Being romantic and exotic, hookah smokers have often been depicted in drawings, photographs and paintings. One of the best known is the Hookah Smoking Caterpillar from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, which of course takes pride of place in this little collection of hookah pictures, even to the extend that we've made it the starting page for our hookah pictures section.

 

Undoubtedly the "little" collection will soon be a "big" collection. Especially in old archives and faded private collections, many nostalgic hookah pictures of "the Orient how it once was" can be found, and we're always on a diligent search for those!

Actually not every pic or painting is literally about hookah smoking, sometimes they simply stand there and are beautiful, or form the entourage for other items from the Oriental atmosphere.
